Dinner Experience
So about a week n a half or so ago it was my birthday n i was treated to dinner at Lucianos in Port Lucaya i was kinda excited becuz last year i went the food was really good and who doesn't get excited to eat good. Lucianos is a fine dine restaurant that serves "classical entrees of Europe". My impression of the restaurant is OLD FASHION, in need of a upgrade on furniture and just the whole interior design of the restaurant. the restaurant was fairly empty as usually probably because its kind of pricey for just a average weekend dinner. ne way for the app. i had a seafood crepe, it was a level above salty i didn't really enjoy the texture. the crepe was stuffed with a mixture of fish, lobster, truffles, and i believe scallops. the crepes were advertised as being seafood mixture and there wasn't a full description so i didn't know what to expect. the fish was the main reason i didn't enjoy the texture usually seafood crepes consists of shrimp, lobster sometimes scallops. besides my 2 complaints it was fairly good not great but good, "edible".
For the entree i had the salmon fillet stuffed with seafood......yes i love seafood. that was okay, basically it was "stuffed" with the same mixture from the crepes nothing special. i would even call it stuffed salmon the "stuffing" was actually just laying on top of the salmon fillet. my complaint about the entree would have to be cold mashed potatoes. my potatoes came on the plate in this ridiculous piping design which you would expect to be cold, why would someone take their time to pipe long linking strings of mashed potatoes it
looked like a child did it honestly. my salmon was quite bland actually and it lacked texture i expected a piece of salmon with a nice sear. it was also served with a separate???? idk why separate, but a separate plate of broccoli and carrots.
The meal was also served with a caesar salad which i didn't eat solely becuz i ordered an app. bread also accompanied the meal and lastly we received a complimentary plate of cookies and chocolate dipped strawberries i thought that was nice.
Overall the staff was great, the food was okay. i wouldn't say it was worth it but yet another inconsistent restaurant. Im just fed up with restaurants and their inconsistencies, 1 week the food is excellent the next week the food is absolutely shitty.....recipes people recipes! people like consistency thats why chain restaurants are so successful. Back on track a dinner for 2 the meal came to about $105 not to bad, but the average person wouldnt spend that for a dinner on a normal weekend.
And something was floating in my water i didnt complain i just didnt touch it......gross.

guava duff/'dough
Couple weeks ago i tried this recipe a Bahamain dessert, this was my first time and i really really wanted some but i cudnt buy it anywhere so i looked up the recipe and made my own. i would call this more a guava dough than duff cause it resembles dough u might find in soup or crab n dough. but otherwise it was good more chewy than light textured and soft as the typical guava duff. ne way i used the guavas out of the can and followed this recipe. i wish i took some pictures but everytime i cook something im to lazy to grab the camera it was pretty though take my word ill post some pictures of other people creations instead. until i make it again idk when that will be.
1 lb flour
2 tsp baking powder
(about) 1 cup cold water
1 pinch of salt
optional cinnamon and cloves
I kneaded to dough until it was of even texture or smooth. the next step is to roll the dough out or stretch it to its maximum length without tearing it and from the shortest length i threw in the sliced guava and rolled it up into a pin wheel like a jelly roll and sealed the edges by pinching the seams.
then i put it in a white pillow case and mad a knot. In a large pot i filled the bottom with water and used a vegetable steam basket for elevation and i placed my pillowcase inside and put on the lid with the heat about to a medium simmer for 25-30 mins.
The sauce
1 can of condensed milk
a hand full of guavas
2 tbs butter
1 tbs vanilla
blend everything together until the guavas is in a sauce consistency.
